Thanks for your comment, Stephanie. It is amazing what a little consistent stretching can do. We see it every day!

Great article. I am a huge proponent of stretching as well as a fitness instructor and massage therapist. Stretching is what takes many of my clients from knarled, contracted messes to long, lengthened and pain free messes :)). Strectching, done properly, can truly change one's phyical life. The really cool part is that it doesn't take much for the body to respond. While Yoga is great and good for those who enjoy it, simply 5-15 minutes a day can be all it takes to bring one's body back to balance. Consisteny being the key. Anyway, thanks for this article and your comments. Awesome!

As a posture therapist, Matt is telling a powerful message here. Sure, we want to be pain free, but also we want to project our personal power in every way that we can. How better to do that than by the statement of one's carriage? The Egoscue Method allows those shoulders to unwind and the head to move back into better position. The precise exercises that Matt prescribes can bring the forward spine out of flexion or the swayback into neutral. If you want to stand tall and be strong, give Matt the go ahead to begin your power program.

Great blog Matt! You do not have to lose the ability to balance well as you age. Postural therapy keeps the body functional and performing optimally.

Like the adage... we don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. Postural therapy is the "magic key" so that we can continue to play for our lifetime!

When I'm out throwing the ball for my dogs I often get down on my hands and knees and get in position for the Static Extension Position, of course Rosco and George cock their heads and wonder "what the heck is "daddy" doing?"

After a strenuous day of climbing utility poles, carrying ladders, crawling in attics and under houses, I often find myself coming home and,as I would tell Maryann, "find a happy place", get out my tower, and go through each level. I could get a few minutes of relaxing in as well as work on my breathing.

Here's a tip, you don't always have to wait for when you have your scheduled exercise time...do a few "E"cises whenever you feel the need(I'm a little slow, that took me awhile before I realized that any time ws a good time!)
